I have a new blog! It’s over here – it’s got lovely bigger pictures! See you there soon..

Finally my new blog is live.. and after the busy summer season a chance to update everyone on what I’ve been up to in 2009. It’s been a busy year so far! I hope you’ll enjoy reading about my photography adventures.

For my old blog, please click here.

I’ve had a bit of time today to catch up on my web reading and I found these very interesting articles that I thought I’d share with you. First off – if you’d like to see “some cool wedding rings, or if you need jewelry design inspiration, definitely check out http://www.rocktographers.com/ which is an entire blog dedicated to wedding ring awesomeness“. (Big thanks to the awesome Anne Ruthmann who always writes such great, fun blogs!)

Next up – a humorous and excellent article from the WPJA/Wedpix – How to starve your wedding photographer: A field guide, a gentle and of course non-offensive reminder to all brides and grooms. Please appreciate and do look after your wedding photographer and videographers on the day and ensure they’re catered for, they’re almost you’re shadow on the day so will have spent many hours with you by then, you don’t want them fainting on you! Personally I’ve found the best time to take a quick break away from the guests is when the bride and groom are having their dinner so you’re ready to be back in the action when they’ve completed their meal and continue with reportage photography of their guests without forks mid-air or full cheeks. Of course there are some gems out there where the suppliers are well taken care of – you know who you are, you’re my heros! But be warned, it definitely is a favourite of caterers to feed the suppliers last so you often find yourself gulping down in a hurry before the speeches, cake-cutting and first dance!

And last but not least another great article from the WPJA/Wedpix, this one had me gulping down tears..*maybe I’m just a bit of a softie* but I know how often I’m hiding my emotions behind my camera during the speeches! You can’t help but be affected by all the emotions that come out during the speeches.. an excellent little read of anticpating people’’s reactions: Capturing Wedding Speeches.

We took a well deserved break after a busy summer to Greece recently with my family who were visiting from SA. Here’s some of my favourites:

Congratulations to the lovely Andrea and Jason were married at St Mary’s in Orlestone. Their reception followed in a field in the nearby village of Hamstreet where the dancing continued late into the night..

Wishing you two much love and happiness! x

Suppliers
Music at the church and at the reception in the afternoon was provided by The Haysden String Quartet.
Hog roast/catering was done by Nyama Catering – most guests went back for a second, third or fourth helping!

Jason and Andrea had arguably the best wedding band I’ve ever heard. Groove Instinct, from Southampton (
grooveinstinct@fsmail.com).

I had a great time photographing Charlotte and James’ pre-wedding portraits earlier this year, so it was with much excitement that I was looking forward to photographing their wedding. And it turned out to be one of the most perfect summer’s days this year!
Remember the before photo from Charlotte and Jame’s pre-wedding shoot a few months ago?
I loved how all the ladies hats were pegged to ribbons hanging from the sides of the marque.
I had such a wonderful time and loved photographing you two on the farm! Thank you so much for the opportunity. Wishing you many wonderful decades and centuries full of love xx

A big thank you too to both sets of parents for all the kindness shown to me. And also a big thank you to Leonette – my last minute driver and assistant on the day.

I had the privilege of attending a seminar presented by Jerry Ghionis, voted one of the world’s top ten wedding photographers by American Photo Magazine, on Monday.

Jerry is such an inspirational photographer and I’ve been following his work for a couple of years now (I love his Pic Pockets – esp. the Ordinary to Extraordinary range: “Wedding photographers are often presented with less than desirable locations, confined spaces and challenging lighting situations. Jerry Ghionis is the master at turning the ordinary into the extraordinary.”) and so was pleased to be able to see the master at work!

Here’s one of my images inspired by some of his work: Spicer Hallfield hosted the seminar – click here for their article about the seminar, including a few images from the day.

It was lovely too to have a chance to catch up with some from the networking group as we’ve all had a busy couple of months. I’m really excited and looking forward to putting into practice some of the new techniques I’ve learnt from the seminar!

The beautiful Haifa and Khaled were married recently and I had the privilege of photographing their wedding celebration. Here are a few detail shots of the evening:

Wishing you a very happy, happy future together! x

I had a lovely morning with James and Charlotte at the Jacklett Farm, near Danbury on Saturday morning doing their pre-wedding portraits. Here’s a few of our favourites showing them on the farm off:

And my absolute favourite image of the day has to be this one:
Guess who will be wearing a bow tie for the wedding!
I can’t wait to photograph Charlotte and James’ wedding towards the end of June and know we’re going to have a lot of fun..
Happy wedding planning until then you two! :-) I know all your hard work is going to result in a perfect wedding day.. x

Our friends Greg and Amy were married at the Merton Registry Office on Saturday. I feel very priviledged to have photographed this part of their wedding for them. Here’s a few of my favourites:

Celebratory lunch followed at Cannizaro House and was absolutely divine!
Lots of congratulations to you two.. wishing you much love and happiness for the future. Look forward to celebrating with you in South Africa! xx
