On a gorgeous summer’s day in late July I had the privilege of photographing the lovely Becky and Ceri’s wedding at the St David’s Hotel & Spa in Cardiff. It was lovely to photograph in Wales again and I always do enjoy getting to travel a bit further afield.

Becky is an avid fan and supporter of Hitched.com so she sourced many of her dream from there:

Hair and Make-up: the dynamic sister duo – Ruth Hunter (Finesse Wedding Planning) and Sara Lee
Dress: Pronuptia
Shoes: Filippa Scott
Jewellery: Starstruck Designs
Flowers: ByGeorge
DJ: SurroundSounds

Below are some of my favourite images from their day. Friends and family can view all the images on the online gallery which is here. Please ask Ceri and Becky for the password or get in contact with me.

Please feel free to leave comments :-)

It’s not often I post images from when the girls are getting ready, but it’s one of the parts of the day I enjoy photographing the most – especially as afterwards it gives the groom such a beautiful insight into the morning of the wedding day and what the bride was experiencing. Surrounded by all  her friends, it quite often is like a big sleep over party :-)

Martin and Karen were married at The Reid Rooms in July. It was a beautiful sunny day to start with, but then the rain came down in buckets – not that it dampened any ones spirits! And after a while it did clear up again and we managed to get some lovely photos outdoors.

Their dream team included:
Make-up: Beauty Spot, Hertford
Dress from: Clifford Burr, Ware
Flowers: Jane Maples, Hertford
Catering: Collins Catering, Loughton
Music/DJ: Chris Cain
Venue: The Reid Rooms

We had the privilege of staying at La Pirogue near Flic en Flac in Mauritius in May. It’s perfectly located on the protected west coast (less wind and rain apparently) and shares facilities with their sister hotel Sugar Beach Resort and it is within walking distance of The Sands and The Hilton.

Although we we spent much of our time just relaxing (and of course finalising details for our wedding) and keeping busy with all the water sports on offer, I did manage to take a few photos whilst we were there. Lots of silhouettes at sunset it seems.. the sunsets where spectacular! Oh just being there was spectacular..

We also went across to the east side of the island to the Le Touesrok resort from where  you can catch the boat across to the 18-hole golf resort. Whilst some of the guys of course wanted to get to know the golf course a bit better others got to enjoy the beauty of the lagoon and beach at Ile aux Cerfs. Mauritius-May09-0218

Back at La Pirogue/Sugar Beach, the evenings were livened up various entertainers, including the traditional Mauritian sega dancers.

After photographing Matt and Grace’s wedding at Beauberry House I went on to attend the lovely Lindsay and Greg’s wedding at Cannizaro House as a wedding guest. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience :-) but of course it wasn’t long and the camera (briefly) came out. Here’s my favourite image from their first dance.Jack-0003

Greg and Lindsay, thank you so much for having us at your wedding! May the two of you continue to share many happy adventures..

In July I was back at the Beauberry House for the wedding of the very elegant Grace and Matt who were eventually married (the registrars turned up late!). Everyone had a wonderful time and the rest of the day went beautifully.

Their dream team included:

Hair: Jo Partridge, Dulwich
Dress: Beverly Lister from Evangeline Rose, Godalming
Shoes: Jimmy Choo
Flowers: Amy Celiz
Music/DJ: Fish Mobile Disco
Venue: Beauberry House, Dulwich Village

Below are some of my favourite images from their day. Friends and family can view all the images on the online gallery which is here. Please ask Matt or Grace for the password or get in contact with me.

A big thank you to Oliea and her team at Beauberry House! Thank you so much for making everything so easy for me :-)  Vote for Beaubery House as one of the short listed Best of British Wedding Venues.

Matt and Grace, wishing you much happiness and love! x

Drum roll please! Introducing.. my husband.. yes I’m officially now Mrs vdB! :-)

As our family and friends are spread around the world, Mark and I escaped with a few of them to a place that holds some of my earliest memories of international travel (not my own experiences, but those of my parents travelling when I was still in junior school and I can remember them returning with tales of wonderful adventures and experiences outside of South Africa.. perhaps it’s where my lust for travel was conceived!) And so Mark and I combined our passion for exciting and gorgeous international destinations and thought it appropriate to tie the knot on the beach at La Pirogue. It really was an amazing couple of weeks.. Our wedding day was truly special and yes I’d heard it a hundred times or more and even said it to a few of my own brides over the years, but time on the day just really seemed to fly by in the blink of an eye! Before we knew it we were dancing barefoot on the beach under African skies..

If you ever get the chance, stay at this wonderful resort, nothing is too much trouble, you’ll be treated like royalty.. and everyone will remember you for years to come!

Here’s one of our favourite images from our creative shoot taken by the  talented David and Christine Weeks.261-PIC-1326

Please feel free to get in contact if you have any questions about destination weddings or are planning to get married in Mauritius (particularly at La Pirogue or its sister resort, Sugar Beach). We’d be delighted to help with advice. And of course, we’d love to photograph your wedding where ever it may be held around the globe!

Our next international wedding will be at Tala Game Reserve, near Durban in South Africa in April 2010. I’m so excited, and I just can’t wait! Please get in touch if you’d like to us to photograph your wedding, engagement portraits or have some fun with a creative shoot on the beach or a location of your choice. See you in SA soon!
