about

Welcome to my blog! I’m a wedding photographer based near Wimbledon, so I cover a lot of weddings in London, Surrey, Hampshire Kent and Essex, but we love to travel so cover weddings throughout the UK (and abroad!). I specialize in relaxed, informal and fun wedding photography with a mixture of lots of photojournalism, creative work and of course some formal family portraits. I hope to share with you in the coming months why I *love* what I do and hope that you’ll enjoy seeing some of the images I’ve had the privilege of photographing...

Please feel free to leave a comment or get in touch with any questions, ideas or requests.

I still have a couple of weddings from last year to blog, but for now I’m jumping ahead to the gorgeous Mary and Morad’s wedding a couple of weeks ago at the Marylebone Registry Office.

First up is a highlights video clip with some of the images from the day..

Below are some of my favourite images from their day. Friends and family can view all the images on the online gallery. Please ask Morad and Mary for the password or get in contact with me.

Wishing you two a wonderful future together! May it always be full of happy and fun-filled times.. x

Joe and Nikki got married on a gorgeous autumn day in November last year (apologies, still catching up on my blog!). The autumnal colours were just stunning and we had a brilliant time with these two, who are so cute together.

It was lovely to shoot so near to us – Joe and Nikki were practically our neighbours living only a few blocks away from us and I thoroughly enjoyed working with these two who clearly have such a big impact on our local artists’ community. See, both these two looooove their music! And wow, between them and their friends the entertainment for the evening was just brilliant.

Grove House (within the grounds of Roehampton University) together with it’s sister venue, Parkstead  House, are two new wedding venues in South West London and it won’t be long before they will be some of the most popular in the area. The grounds are lovely and there are plenty of photo opportunities, inside and out even in November.. so it’s easy to see why Joe and Nikki choose this as their wedding reception venue. Apart from a couple of formal group photos during the day, the remainder of the photography coverage was photojournalism-styled, including our creative shoot with Joe and Nikki in the grounds of Grove House and we could just really have fun and enjoy all the brilliant expressions that form part of any wedding day.. lots of laughter and happy banter.

(Apologies, lots of wow’s, oe’s and ahh’s in this blog post, but I can’t help it – it’s just been so fab to be a part of their day :-) )!

Joe and Nikki’s dream team included:
Hair: Dry 503 Ltd, Raynes Park
Dress: San Patrick La Sposa from Unique Bridal in Elys, Wimbledon
Florist: Bon Fleur, Wimbledon Chase
Catering: Bob the Hog
Entertainment: Very talented friends and family!
Ceremony: Barnes Methodist Church
Venue: Grove House, Roehampton

Below are some of my favourite images from their day. Friends and family can view all the images on the online gallery. Please ask Joe and Nikki for the password or get in contact with me.

A big thank you to Joe and Nikki for the privilege of being their wedding photographers. Thank you two so much, can’t wait to deliver your finalised gorgeous wedding album and page through it with you again on your 25th wedding anniversary. Wishing you much love and happiness.

To Carla at Grove House a very big thank you too for all her assistance on the day. I can’t wait to photograph at Grove House again in the near future.

And of course a big thank you to the newest member of the HdP Creative Photography team, my husband Mark, who was the second photographer at Joe and Nikki’s day. Watch this one, he’s photography rocks (and I’m not just saying it coz I’m biased!).

Isn’t this lil girl just too cute for words.. I had the privilege of photographing her and her Yummy Mummy last week and couldn’t wait to introduce her to  you:

Rob and Hailz, many congratulations on your beautiful little girl! x

I had the privilege of photographing this lil guy when he was only a couple of weeks old. It was brilliant photographing Jessie and Michael again and seeing how much their lives had changed in the last year – they’d gone from being an excited and amazing couple on their wedding day at Beauberry House to being loving and doting parents. They absolutely adore their GraphiStudio WeddingBook so for this session we’ve done a special GraphiStudio Portrait Book and I love it – it shows so many of Shawn’s expressions!

Micheal & Jessie, congratulations on your wonderful addition to the family! xx

The amazing Bee and Joss were married at The All Saints Church in Wimbish in early October. This couple is just too sweet for words and I had a wonderful time capturing their day! Their day was made extra special with tons of little personal touches from recreating a photograph from Bee’s grandparents and parents weddings outside the All Saints Church, to Bee’s sister special sweet table at the Reid Rooms, their family tree with photographs of their family past and present, wedding cake and cupcakes made by friends and family and of course last but very much not least the gorgeous fairy lights and lantern lit dance floor, inspired by their engagement in Disneyland. Oh and did I mention the bagpiper and sword arch created by the bridal party outside the church?!

Their dream team included:
Bouquets: Mulberry Flowers
Catering: Anna Chutes  Catering
Piper: Roy from Cambridge Bagpiper
Music/DJ:  DNA Disco
Venue: The Reid Rooms, Essex

Below are some of my favourite images from their day. Friends and family can view all the images on the online gallery. Please ask Joss and Bee for the password or get in contact with me.

These two are after my own heart and I love their spirit of adventure! For their honeymoon and starting life together as husband and wife these two have packed their bags and are travelling around the world together.. what an amazing experience to be sharing.. and although friends and family have gifted amazing experiences along the way, it’s not just been about the two of them but also about what they can do to help along the way.. for example looking after turtles in Costa Rica! It’s been really special following their story over the last couple of months. I love this image – Joss was reminding Bee of what it was going to be like under the mosquito net in Costa Rica! :-)

A big thank you to Angie for all her help at The Reid Rooms on the day, to Bee’s girls for being so kind and warm and of course Joss’ brother for being my ‘lighting assistant’ during their creative shoot! :-) Thanks so much!

  • Beautiful work, Hazel! You captured a lot of tender moments as well as the hustle and bustle of the day. My absolute favourites have to be the last ones… wowowow at the colours of that sunset!

In late August I had the privilege of photographing the vivacious Claire and Gary’s wedding at St Mary’s in Wimbledon Village (just up the road from us!). Their wedding reception followed at the Bingham Hotel in Richmond and it was the perfect day to be enjoying the sunshine out on the terrace next to the river.

The gorgeous Sian and Jon were married on a beautiful Friday in August. It was my first chance to shoot at Coltsford Mill which is a stunning Surrey wedding venue. Between the team at Coltsford Mill and Sian’s “mood boards” and exceptional attention to detail everything was extra special and it all went off without a hitch.

Their dream team included:
Hair and make-up: Shelley from Shellshock Hair Design
Dress and veil: Hernani by Pronovias, Bond St
Tiara and jewellery: Johanna Hehir
Shoes: Rainbow Couture
Flowers: Liz, Coltsford Mill
Catering: Galloping Gourmet
Music/DJ: Goyesca String Trio and Raindance UK

Sian and Jon, I hope you’re day was as amazing and beautiful as you wished for. May you have a long and happy future together!

A big thank you to Jenny for showing me around, and to Liz and the Coltsford Mill team who’s service and care really were outstanding. Coltsford Mill is not only a beautiful venue but everything was just of the best! I look forward to working with you again in the  near future.

Okay, so for a change a little something else.. As things have started to quieten down ever so slightly (another 5 wedding to still blog for this year) and as its always lovely to meet new photographers and catch up with familiar faces, I went down to Bournemouth on Monday to meet a few more of the R Network’s members. It’s fantastic to meet up with such amazing photographers and share experiences. And of course, what better way to spend a rainy Monday!

As I was “studiously taking notes”, I don’t have any pictures to share as such (don’t think you’ll find the off camera test shots of bottles which I did with Ian much fun), so instead here’s me getting papped along the way by the amazing Lawsons: http://www.lawsonphotography.co.uk/Blog/2009/12/bournemouth-fun/ and Mr F: http://www.fazackarley.com/blog/2009/12/bournemouth-meet-up-both-wedding-portrait-photographers/

A big thank you to Emma and Ian from Big Bouquet for organising the cool venue, Carrie for being our chauffeur :-) and Christina for the company on the train. And of course a big thank you to everyone for their freely giving natures! What an amazing group Mr Randall has put together. Looking forward to catching up with everyone at SWPP and I may just gate crash the next Northerners’ gathering to meet more fab photogs! :-)

Okay, back to work on my new website.. can’t wait to launch it soon!

Rob and Jackie were married on one of the hottest days of August. It was blue skies and sunshine all the way, beautiful! It was such a happy and fun day.. Jackie has the most infectious laugh and I had a great time photographing the two of them and their friends and family. A big thank you to Karen for having introduced me to this great group of friends!

Rob and Jackie’s dream team included:

Hair:  Frankie from Shobiz, Sidcup
Dress:  Tia by Augsta Jones
Flowers:  Evergreen
Magician: Tony from The Complete Wedding Magician
Catering & Reception Venue: Darenth Valley Golf Course
Music/DJ:  Best DJ in Town

On a gorgeous summer’s day in late July I had the privilege of photographing the lovely Becky and Ceri’s wedding at the St David’s Hotel & Spa in Cardiff. It was lovely to photograph in Wales again and I always do enjoy getting to travel a bit further afield.

Becky is an avid fan and supporter of Hitched.com so she sourced many of her dream from there:

Hair and Make-up: the dynamic sister duo – Ruth Hunter (Finesse Wedding Planning) and Sara Lee
Dress: Pronuptia
Shoes: Filippa Scott
Jewellery: Starstruck Designs
Flowers: ByGeorge
DJ: SurroundSounds

Williams black and white

It’s not often I post images from when the girls are getting ready, but it’s one of the parts of the day I enjoy photographing the most – especially as afterwards it gives the groom such a beautiful insight into the morning of the wedding day and what the bride was experiencing. Surrounded by all  her friends, it quite often is like a big sleep over party :-)
